Empowering Communities Towards a Better Future
Sustainability starts here
Towards a Better World (TABW) is an Australian-registered charity dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty through sustainable, community-driven development. We are committed to supporting community development that is economically, socially, and environmentally sustainability, ensuring that each initiative is deeply rooted in the needs and visions of the communities it serves.
Founded in 2017 by Matt and Wendy Napier, TABW focuses on long-term impact, empowering communities to take control of their futures. Our current projects are centred on food security, health and nutrition, skills development, and income generation.
Empowering communities to be self-reliant through sustainable development.

our projects
Our projects are designed to strengthen communities by addressing critical gaps in food security, health, and social support. We deliver practical, sustainable solutions that create opportunity, improve wellbeing, and build long-term resilience.
Our current projects focus on food security, health and nutrition, skills development, and income generation.
Farm Ubuntu: Development Through Agriculture Project
Located on 17-hectares of arid land approx 25km west of Swakopmund, Namibia, Farm Ubuntu operates as both a productive agricultural enterprise and a practical training environment.
The project uses sustainable agriculture as a tool to improve food security, create employment and strengthen skills in the agriculture sector.
MI-CARE: Maternal and infant support program
A program that strengthens systems of care for vulnerable infants and their mothers in Namibia.
Through partnerships and community-driven funding, MI-CARE supports access to donor breast milk, postnatal care, and community-based solutions that improve outcomes during one of the most critical stages of life.
Sustainable Schools Program
( Malawi )
TABW contributes funding to strengthen community-led education and food security initiatives in rural Malawi in partnership with Empower Projects.
Working through primary schools as entry points, the program uses permaculture principles to improve nutrition, build practical skills, and promote environmental stewardship.
PREVIOUS PROJECTS
Since 2017, Towards a Better World has implented and/or funded a wide range of projects across Africa.
Creating lasting impact and strengthening communities in a way that many of the projects are still in operation today.
AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS
Our journey began with our founder, Matt Napier, undertaking extraordinary long-distance journeys to raise awareness about global poverty and campaigning for more effective foreign aid. From walking across Australia to traversing the width of Southern Africa, no challenge was too great!
Our APPROACH
Our approach is built on collaboration, sustainability, and equity, empowering communities to lead their own development. By partnering with local organisations, we create tailored programs that address real needs while fostering long-term self - sufficiency.
Through training, access to resources, and hands-on support, we help communities build resilience, improve livelihoods, and create lasting change - one project at a time.
