Farm Ubuntu
(“Humanity to Others”)
In 2024, TABW's founders purchased a 17-hectare plot of land in the "River Plots" area near Swakopmund, Namibia with the vision of transforming it into an agricultural estate that supports various social initiatives including:
Crop Production – production of vegetables and other agricultural products for supply to the local market to ensure fresh, local produce is available at affordable prices. The income generated will support farm operations, fund expansion activities and contribute to community support projects.
Agricultural Training Centre – facilitation of hands-on practical farming experience for aspiring farmers focusing on how to produce vegetables in a sustainable and financially viable manner including crop production, sustainable farming, business management and value addition.
Agri-Hub Community – growing the local agricultural industry by leasing portions of land to aspiring farmers for complementary agricultural activities such as poultry, pig farming and horticulture. By fostering a network of agricultural enterprises, we encourage resource sharing, innovation, knowledge exchange and job creation.

Mi-CARE: Maternal & INFANT SUPPORT
The earliest days of life are the most fragile.
For vulnerable infants and their mothers, access to the right support during this critical period can make the difference between survival and long-term wellbeing.
In Namibia, essential healthcare services are in place, but gaps remain — particularly in access to donor breast milk, postnatal support for mothers, and community-based care systems that support recovery beyond the hospital environment.
MI-CARE was established to help address these gaps.
As a program of Towards a Better World Charities (Namibia), MI-CARE strengthens the systems of care that surround vulnerable infants and their mothers. Rather than creating parallel services, the program works with trusted partners to support and expand existing maternal and infant care initiatives where they are needed most.
MI-CARE focuses on three interconnected areas:
Infant Nutrition & Breast Milk Access - Supporting safe, reliable access to donor breast milk for vulnerable infants through strengthened milk banking systems.
Maternal Trauma & Postnatal Support - Enabling counselling, education, and recovery-focused care to support mothers following premature or complicated births.
Sustainability & Community Engagement - Building long-term impact through community participation, ethical funding initiatives, and local capacity development.
Through this coordinated approach, MI-CARE helps ensure that both mother and child are supported — not only at birth, but throughout the critical early stages of life.
At its core, MI-CARE exists to protect life at its most vulnerable stage while strengthening the systems and people who care for both mother and child.

Integrated Community Based Food Security (World Food Programme)
In 2023, TABW collaborated with the World Food Programme to revitalise neglected community gardens at health clinics and schools in five regions of Namibia.
The aim of these gardens is to provide fresh produce to vulnerable populations and generate income to sustain operations including employing locals.
Communities received training in construction/ maintenance of shade houses, drip irrigation, crop production techniques, poultry production, nutrition, management structures and basic business skills.

COSDEF Agriculture Project
Between 2018 and 2023, TABW partnered with the Namibian Community Skills Development Foundation to create an agriculture training garden in Swakopmund.
The project has trained over 200 people, assisted 250 individuals in establishing home gardens, employs 7 staff, diverts organic waste from landfill and sells fresh vegetables to the local market.
The project became fully financially sustainable in November 2023 and was officially handed over to COSDEF to manage independently.
UGANDA
CEFORD Large Scale Farming Project
In November 2019 we partnered with Ugandan NGO, Community Empowerment for Rural Development (CEFORD) to establish a large scale farming project in the refugee resettlement area of Northern Uganda.
The aim of the project was to establish a commercial farm as an avenue for creating employment opportunities for members of both the host and refugee communities, address food security issues in the area and also reduce the reliance on donor funds by generating a sustainable source of funds to be invested back into the region in the form of other community development projects.
The project focussed on growing bulk crops such as maize and rice, as well as seasonal vegetables including onions, tomatoes, Sukuma wiki (Kale), cabbage and watermelon. Local distributors (mainly women) were engaged to sell the produce at the local markets.
GLOBAL IMPACT
POVERTY AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS
The origins of Towards a Better World (TABW) trace back to our founder, Matt Napier, who embarked on extraordinary long-distance journeys to raise awareness about global poverty. Supported by his wife and co-founder, Matt's efforts demonstrated that with determination, anything is possible.
